Using just basic geometric shapes, build a picture of your secret word while your teammates shout guesses. Two teams build at the same time, racing to get their word first. Simple pieces, surprising creations, and no time to overthink it.
Designed by Jan Soukal & Patrik Chleboun.
- Guessing games, rewired — guess your own word first and you can go after the other team's word too, and steal that point before they get it.
- Everyone builds at once — both teams work through every round together.
- Scales 2 to ∞ — add people to a team and a party of twelve still works.
- Two modes of play — competitive and co-op from the same box.
- Quick to teach — one round to learn, about a minute from box to play.
How to play Shapemash
Say it with shapes!
You get a secret word and a pile of plain black and white shapes to build it with, while your team shouts guesses and the other team does exactly the same thing right next to you. Nobody has to draw, and that's why the friend who swears they can't draw a cat is so often the one who wins the round.
No downtime
You're not spending half the evening watching the other team struggle with their word. You're racing them, trying to get yours guessed first so you can go after theirs too and score double points!
Can't draw? Well, who can?
You don't have to be Da Vinci to put a few shapes together, and a bit of creativity goes a long way.
Add people until you run out of chairs
Shapemash scales from two players to, technically, infinity (please don't bring a hundred people to game night), so any number of players works. There's a co-op mode for smaller groups too!

A party game that supports creativity and visual thinking.

Build it at Essen, or get it shipped on day one
Shapemash launches at SPIEL Essen on 22 to 25 October, and we're playing it all four days at Hall 4, booth 4C120. Pre-order it here and we ship your copy on October 22nd, the day the show opens, from our EU or US warehouse.

Two teams and two builders
Split into two teams, and each team picks a shape builder. Both builders take a word card and secretly choose one of the three words on it. A rickshaw, a shrubbery, a typewriter, that kind of thing.
Five shapes, at most
Now build your word out of the shapes. The box has forty double-sided shapes, black on one side and white on the other. Swap them as often as you like, but never put more than five on the canvas at once.
Flip it white to cut
Every shape is white on the back. Use the white side as a second colour, or lay it over a black shape to cut a piece out of it. That is how two circles become a moon, and the white one still counts toward the five.
Build it while they shout
Flip the two-minute timer and build. Your team shouts guesses from the moment you start. No sound effects and no animating the shapes, but rebuilding is fine, which is how a tree turns into a lumberjack.
Both teams build at once
Team versus team, both builders build at the same time. Guess your own pictogram and your team can start on the other one too. Every correct guess before the sand runs out is a point.
Or play together against the game
Co-operative mode has one builder at a time, two to eight players and a shared handful of lives, three on easy and one on hard. Guess ten words before the lives run out.
First team to ten wins. Two minutes a round, and the sand timer is the only referee.
